Saguaro on a Phoenix Hiking TourBecause we are a small, local mom-and-pop specialty shop, the Wild Bunch Desert Guides deliver a personal touch and countless extras you will not see from other hiking tour companies or Phoenix hiking tours. From the detailed follow-up in the booking process, to the drinks and special trail snacks provided during our adventure tours, guests are delighted to discover the homespun hospitality and personal care everyone craves when traveling.

Unlike 4wd tours, seeing the Sonoran Desert on foot is an intimate experience when led by pro guides. Day hiking in the Valley of the Sun is the ultimate hiking adventure.

Stand next to -- and be sure to get a picture with -- the majestic Saguaro Cactus, the trademark of the Old West with mighty arms reaching skyward. Taste a Cholla Cactus and sample the other edible plants in our living natural wonder. Keep a sharp eye, too, because you might see a jackrabbit or coyote or some other wildlife indigenous to the desert.

Guided commentary and the chance to ask questions offer an excellent opportunity to learn about the desert, from flora to fauna, during private Phoenix hiking tours with the Wild Bunch.

Best yet? The Wild Bunch guided hiking trips are led by experts knowledgeable in all the Sonoran has to offer guests, so there is no need to waste time looking down at a map with pathfinders who know nearly 300 miles of trails like the back of their hand. This allows our guests the maximum experience – taking in all the incredible scenery, understanding the unfamiliar world around them, and navigating the desert safely and enjoyably with the entertaining company of a professional guide.

Wild Bunch works harder than the other hiking tour companies to deliver once-in-a-lifetime experiences every time to each of our guests. Instead of the well-worn, cookie-cutter corporate outings, Wild Bunch drills down on the details so every guest receives an extraordinary adventure whether on Phoenix hiking trails or Scottsdale's iconic Camelback Mountain.

Our hiking menu includes half day (3-4 hour) or 1.5-hour (90 minute) private guided hiking tours, with a pickup/drop-off transportation option for either length. However, if you desire more time and a greater test, such as a Camelback Mountain hike, please visit our “2X The Fun Tours” or simply inquire about special occasion day tours during the detailed booking follow-up.

The half-day hikes allow for more exploration time by you or your group, but the 90-minute hikes are perfect to fit into packed travel itineraries or to accommodate business travelers needing to squeeze in a little playtime before getting back to work.

Solo hikers receive extra special one-on-one attention from their guide while exploring the Sonoran Desert. The small group size of our private hikes allow for quality family or friend time with the backdrop an unforgettable landscape.

The best part of both worlds? No one will be added to your private tour, whether booking solo or group guided hiking trips. This is for your eyes only.

From a casual stroll to a strenuous challenge on rugged terrain - Wild Bunch Desert Guides has you covered. Mountain bikers, we haven't left you out. We'll take you on the bike ride of your life for a memorable Sonoran Desert experience. Details here.

Took a half-day trip with Laurel through some amazing trails near Scottsdale. Being from the UK, I struggled a little with the heat -- luckily Laurel had packed some Cadburys chocolate for the ride which was only a little melted and gave me a great boost. Great scenery, great bikes, great energy. Book with Wild Bunch Desert Guides and bring your cycling A game!

My sister and I had the opportunity to hike with Laurel and members of her amazing team. We were first timers to the Scottsdale area and Wild Bunch Desert Guides were recommended to us. We did two wonderful hikes, Gateway Ridge and Spur Cross in Cave Creek. Laurel could not have made this any easier--hotel pick up, narration about the trails, the area, plant life, and she was fully stocked with water and snacks. For me though, what makes WBDG so exceptional is the work on the front end. Laurel was rigorous during booking--what did we want, what was most important, our assessment of our own skill level and then her follow-up questions. Everything was geared to us and for us. Laurel, Ellen and Tommy didn't just guide us, they hiked with us, and after four hours we felt as if we had made new and wonderful friends. They were also attentive to others on the trail, checking in with hikers who looked like they might need assistance and offering guidance to a mountain biker who had gone astray. These hikes were the highlight of our trip and truly I can't say enough about the experience. Pricing is more than reasonable and frankly the opportunity to spend time with these experienced guides -- Priceless!
