Mountain Biking and Hiking Tours | Scottsdale and Phoenix AZ

2X The Fun - Mtn Biking & Hiking in the Same Arizona Day Trip

Guided hiking tours are intensely intimate and incredibly informative. However, guided Mountain Bike trips are an absolute blast for adrenaline junkies.

Like both adventure tours? Unable to decide between guided hiking trips and guided Mountain Bike tours? Or simply hate wasting time on tough choices?

The Wild Bunch Desert Guides have the perfect solution for visitors to the legendary “Valley of the Sun” with only one activity day available on their busy travel itinerary -- Do both adventure tours for a personal duathlon in Arizona’s postcard-worthy Sonoran Desert in Phoenix and Scottsdale.

All tours include snacks, water, and a professional guide for 3-4 hours of Mountain Biking. Families with kids receive a $15 discount per child 10-and-under. An adult must accompany children.

PRICES DO NOT include taxes, an online booking-system fee, and any gratuity decided upon by our guests.

TIPPING TIP: Same as any service industry workers, the best adventure travel tour guides typically earn a gratuity of 20-percent or more from their guests.

CANCELLATION POLICY: All we ask for is a credit card to hold the time and guide. We know minds and plans change. We offer a full refund up to 48 hours before the departure time of your tour. After that, 50-percent of the deposit is forfeited to help cover the costs of guides, as well as booking, bikes, and other equipment. Thank you for understanding. NOTE: Weather rarely works against outdoor plans in the “Valley of the Sun,” but should we have to cancel a tour to preserve the delicate balances in the desert, we will refund everything.

GROUP POLICY: For Groups of 10 or more please call us at 602-663-0842 to schedule, online booking is not available. A 20-percent gratuity will be added to the tour total. The group outings require extra planning and guides, so we ask that you confirm your group number 48 hours in advance. If things change last minute, please let us know as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate, but Safety and Service will be our primary focus. Thanks for understanding!

NOTE: The pickup-and-drop-off transportation option for any adventure booking remains available. However, because of the heightened risk of COVID-19 exposure to our guests and guides from riding in a vehicle together, all guests are asked to consider selecting instead the booking option of meeting their guide at the trailhead. Detailed directions are provided to those guests selecting this option. Thank you for understanding and considering ahead of time this difficult but necessary safety precaution during this challenging time.

If you are up for a challenge, you can hike AND Mountain Bike on the same day … but only if you are tough enough. Only the strong survive this Wild Bunch concoction mixing the vigorous off-roading of guided hiking tours with the thrill ride of guided Mountain Bike trips.

Enjoying the beauty of the majestic Saguaro Cactus on two wheels AND with both feet? What could be better than joining one of our expert guides for a full-day adventure in one of the most exotic locales on the planet? Tours start and end in the picturesque McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Please do not be offended, but this super-serious experience is only for the die-hard athletes that burst through The Wall when they hit that vaunted physical and mental breaking point.

Not recommended for those who have not hiked or biked in a while. Definitely not a “kids” activity. Not for beginners, either.

Hiking Tour in Phoenix AZ

Guests must be physically fit, with a high degree of endurance and a desire for the adrenaline of some awesome aerobic activity while on vacation to enjoy this Wild Bunch adventure.

Guides hiking trips and guided Mountain Bike tours each offer the chance for an intense cardio-friendly workout. And what a glorious “gym” guests are getting to push themself – in the intensely dry heat of the Sonoran Desert natural-blast furnace, exercising alongside local landmarks and among amazing landscapes in Phoenix and Scottsdale.

Mountain Bike Tour in Phoenix AZ

2 Guys on Mountain Bike TourWhile the Wild Bunch loves to get out and explore with all our guests – especially introducing beginners and children to the wonders of nature and the health benefits of hiking in Phoenix and Mountain Bike adventures a couple of miles at a time – we also have our “Wild” side where we enjoy catering to expert skills, advanced adventurers of supreme and extreme athletes.

Designed specifically for guests who desire a same-day hiking and Mountain Biking combo tour. The dual daytrip is unique because, unlike the Wild Bunch Desert Guides, many hiking tour companies only offer hiking, and some Phoenix Mountain Bike companies only offer cycling.

However, if guided hiking trips paired with guided Mountain Bike tours seems like child’s play, guests also can choose two or three peaks to summit for a real out-of-this-world, all-day desert adventure. Hiking Camelback Mountain is another popular option for tourists [link to Camelback]

If up for the challenge, plan on a 7-hour window to complete the dual challenges of guided hiking tours and Mountain Bike trips.

Normally for the Wild Bunch that means riding first for 2-3 hours, before breaking to enjoy a box lunch, and then finishing strong with another 1-2 hours of hiking.

Guests can customize the adventure tour to shorten the whole experience or adjust the order, duration, and intensity of either activity.

Call 602-663-0842 to inquire about the availabilities of a combination tour or customize this challenge in all sorts of ways.

The box lunch is included in the price. A menu is provided during the booking process so guests may order the lunch they desire.

Please understand: This is not a solo activity for several reasons, but especially for the health and safety of our guests and guides. A minimum of two guests is required by the Wild Bunch Desert Guides. More than two participants in this combo tour can be easily accommodated.

The pickup-and-drop-off transportation option remains an alternative to meeting your guide at the trailhead if you feel uncomfortable driving in unfamiliar surroundings. Plus, allowing the guide to drive back to your hotel or resort is a great way to catch a well-deserved nap.

We go mountain biking in Arizona every year. There are two things we look for -- a challenging trail appropriate for our family, and an amazing guide. Laurel is an amazing guide we have worked with previously, and we couldn't have been more excited to support this business she is growing. Why was this excellent? We had full trust that she would pick a trail that fits us (started at Tom's Thumb and ended 21 miles later back at Tom's Thumb), and she knows when to push us and when to dial it back. Laurel has an amazing energy and positivity to her that's infectious. She works incredibly well with our son, who mountain bikes in middle school, challenging him appropriately, while also not letting those a little less fit (me) get too far behind. The bikes were fantastic, she had everything we would need for a fun day. It made it an incredible end-to-end experience and we will definitely see her again when we return to Arizona. I think you'll find Wild Bunch unique in the sense that if you are a hard-core mountain biker, you'll be challenged … if you are middle-of-the-road amateurs like us, you will be challenged and have fun, and even if you are somewhat of a beginner, you'll find that Wild Bunch can adjust to what's right for you and show you a great time!

Laurel was very accommodating in putting together a hiking tour for my friend and me. Excellent communications during planning and Matt, our guide, was able to customize the hike on the fly to our somewhat limited capabilities. Matt provided light backpacks, water (we also brought some), snacks and I'm sure he had a first aid kit and other items, though we didn't need them. All we really had to bring was our hiking shoes, sunglasses and suntan lotion. He made the hike interesting and informative. I'd gladly book another outing with Wild Bunch Desert Guides the next time I'm in the area.
