2X The Fun - Mtn Biking & Hiking in the Same Arizona Day Trip

If you are up for a challenge, you can hike AND Mountain Bike on the same day … but only if you are tough enough. Only the strong survive this Wild Bunch concoction mixing the vigorous off-roading of guided hiking tours with the thrill ride of guided Mountain Bike trips.

PLEASE NOTE: The Wild Bunch Desert Guides want to deliver your best-ever vacation adventure, and that means guiding you along the correct path every step of the way.

So, every year between June 1 and Oct. 1, the Wild Bunch join the entire Arizona adventure tour industry in adopting special summer hours.

The reason is simple. The summertime heat in the Valley of the Sun dangerously skyrockets to triple digits. Vigorous physical activities in those Sonoran Desert temperatures should be avoided.

So, to safeguard our guests from the risks of dehydration and even more severe heat-related illnesses, the Wild Bunch limits start times of ALL guided mountain biking adventures during the heat of the Arizona summer.

That means there are no "2X The Fun" hiking and mountain biking combo tours available, because that experience cannot start early enough to avoid the treacherous heat after 10 a.m.

The "2X The Fun" combo experience returns Oct. 2.

Enjoying the beauty of the majestic Saguaro Cactus on two wheels AND with both feet? What could be better than joining one of our expert guides for a full-day adventure in one of the most exotic locales on the planet? Tours start and end in the picturesque McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Please do not be offended, but this super-serious experience is only for the die-hard athletes that burst through The Wall when they hit that vaunted physical and mental breaking point.

Not recommended for those who have not hiked or biked in a while. Definitely not a “kids” activity. Not for beginners, either.

Hiking Tour in Phoenix AZ

Guests must be physically fit, with a high degree of endurance and a desire for the adrenaline of some awesome aerobic activity while on vacation to enjoy this Wild Bunch adventure.

Guides hiking trips and guided Mountain Bike tours each offer the chance for an intense cardio-friendly workout. And what a glorious “gym” guests are getting to push themself – in the intensely dry heat of the Sonoran Desert natural-blast furnace, exercising alongside local landmarks and among amazing landscapes in Phoenix and Scottsdale.

2 Guys on Mountain Bike TourWhile the Wild Bunch loves to get out and explore with all our guests – especially introducing beginners and children to the wonders of nature and the health benefits of hiking in Phoenix and Mountain Bike adventures a couple of miles at a time – we also have our “Wild” side where we enjoy catering to expert skills, advanced adventurers of supreme and extreme athletes.

Designed specifically for guests who desire a same-day hiking and Mountain Biking combo tour. The dual daytrip is unique because, unlike the Wild Bunch Desert Guides, many hiking tour companies only offer hiking, and some Phoenix Mountain Bike companies only offer cycling.

However, if guided hiking trips paired with guided Mountain Bike tours seems like child’s play, guests also can choose two or three peaks to summit for a real out-of-this-world, all-day desert adventure. Hiking Camelback Mountain is another popular option for tourists.

If up for the challenge, plan on a 7-hour window to complete the dual challenges of private guided hiking tours and Mountain Bike trips.

Normally for the Wild Bunch that means riding first for 2-3 hours, before breaking to enjoy a box lunch, and then finishing strong with another 1-2 hours of hiking.

Guests can customize the adventure tour to shorten the whole experience or adjust the order, duration, and intensity of either activity.

Call 602-663-0842 to inquire about the availabilities of a combination tour or customize this challenge in all sorts of ways.

The box lunch is included in the price. A menu is provided during the booking process so guests may order the lunch they desire.

Please understand: This is not a solo activity for several reasons, but especially for the health and safety of our guests and guides. A minimum of two guests is required by the Wild Bunch Desert Guides. More than two participants in this combo tour can be easily accommodated on your private tour experience.

The pickup-and-drop-off transportation option remains an alternative to meeting your guide at the trailhead if you feel uncomfortable driving in unfamiliar surroundings. Plus, allowing the guide to drive back to your hotel or resort is a great way to catch a well-deserved nap.

The Yin and Yang of Phoenix hiking tours

A chance business meeting four years ago now has blossomed into a real friendship. Through the passage of time, the shared bonds of Phoenix hiking tours have continued to strengthen and deepen a partnership that has benefited much more than my Wild Bunch Desert Guides.

Phoenix hiking tours: Colorado here we come!

The golden oldie is well-known as the unofficial state song of the golden state and the theme behind the expansion of our country westward. Written and first used on Broadway by Al Jolson, “California, Here I Come” celebrates its 100th birthday in January of 2024 after serving in the soundtrack of films, TV shows and stage productions for generations. But I am singing a different tune these days by changing the lyrics slightly for my Wild Bunch Desert Guides, with the second season of Colorado summer hiking tours on the vacation horizon.

Avoid Phoenix hiking tours last-minute challenges

For the second straight year, the Phoenix adventure tours season has been one for the record books. But while 2022 was memorable for a seemingly endless stream of bookings, the 2023 calendar year has been remarkably inconsistent and maddeningly unpredictable. The most troubling trend? The rise of last-minute requests for guided Phoenix hiking tours and guided Phoenix mountain bike tours.
